CUSTOM ORTHOTICS
If you are one of the countless Americans who suffer from foot pain, it could be because your feet are always in motion and under enormous pressure. When your feet function properly, they flatten and regain their arches with each step. When they don’t function properly or regain their arches after each step, it can lead to pain and discomfort. Foot doctors refer to it as being out of alignment and often compare it to the front wheels of a car. When your feet are out of alignment it forces some of the bones to support too much weight. The muscles then pull harder on these areas, making it harder for the tendons and ligaments to do their job. Foot fatigue, neuromas, heel pain and bone deformities such as hammertoes and bunions may occur because of this unusual movement. This may also cause back and/or knee pain.
Custom-made orthotics can help control foot movement and potentially alleviate pain. Orthotics are inserts that fit comfortably in shoes to help correct imbalances. Our office uses state-of-the-art equipment from Footmaxx to measure the way you walk and analyze your feet in motion. It’s as simple as walking across a high-tech mat. The mat gives the doctor information about balance, gait cycle, pressure and how bunions, hammertoes or other conditions affect the way you walk. This information, along with a thorough exam of your feet, is used to create your custom orthotic.
Custom orthotics allow your feet to function with less pain while protecting them from the repetitive stress of everyday walking and activities.
